After my awesome community on Youtube voted for the Rusty Bucket Bay Level of Banjo-Kazooie, I started working on the Remix and the splash art. I realy had a great time painting this one. No major problems. I started with a few thumbnails, did the lineart and filled in the colors. After that I added light and shade and was quite happy how it turned out!
Check out the remix I made for my AstrothSounds channel on Youtube
here in which I animated the Splash as well.
Oh! And from now on you can buy your own print of my art here:

Oh boy...I am so happy that I managed to finish this piece of art. I swear, I was a few times very close on giving up on this one. i learned by now, that its possible to reach a level you can be happy with in the end. And I am quite happy with the result :)
This Splash Art I made of the german video game Gothic. It is really a milestone for my gaming experience! Check out the remix I made for my AstrothSounds channel on Youtube

The last weeks I was focusing on poses and how to draw / paint them in a nice style. I wanted to simplify them but still concentrate on the important elements. Here is a collection of the best results of my study. hope you like them :)
Hoodstomper Splash Art |
29.08.2020 |
I am realy in a mood to work more on my remixes on Youtube. On the one side I have a huge amount of motivation for remixing a track for my splash art and on the other side I want to paint a very nice splash art for my remix. I've got the feeling that this two things work together very well and I am able to create a piece of art which people like to watch for nostalgic purposes or just for fun.
this time I painting this Splash Art for my Hoodstomper Remix. The First Boss of Rayman 3 Hoodlum Havoc also known as Master Kaag by Ubisoft. I kinda had the exact scene in my mind and was finaly able to paint it the way I imagined it. Biggest problem I had with the focal point. I needed some time adjusting value and intensity of characters and background to seperate them nice.

Frantic Factory Splash Art |
04.08.2020 |
A long planned remix of one of my favorite stages in Donkey Kong 64 for the Nintendo 64. this Splash Art gave me some serious problems regarding perspective and textures. It turned out nice in the end but I realized that I could have done more with enough planning before painting. I learned this lession for my next Splash Art :)

Face Studies Part IV |
07.07.2020 |
After working my way through numerous landscape studies I chose portraits as my next study subject. Though the human face is not completely unknown to me, I want to achieve the skill of creating advanced, stylized portraits for character concepts or gifts. Besides head construction practises I paint one portrait every day and collect 3 of them in one slide. Hope you like them :)

#4Thumbs-Challenge Week04: Temple |
28.05.2020 |
Last week of my 4Thumbs challenge was all about integrating architecture into my landscapes. In this case I was focusing on temples or ancient buildings. I improved my perspective and architecture skills. How do you like them? :)
Little Study: Stylized Trees |
20.05.2020 |
Its something I wanted to do since a long time. Figuring out how to paint trees in a stylized version that I like. After one day of trying different ways I finaly found the one I feel good with. Also check out the
painting process video on my youtube channel! :)
#4Thumbs-Challenge Week03: Forest |
11.05.2020 |
8 days of painting forest enviroments for the 4thumbs challenge. I was so glad painting something green again after one week of deserts. And that really didn't change over the past days. I learned to use nore than just green for forest environments. I improved my use of light and composition. I added texture to the trees and tried out new styles. In the end I am very happy with the results of that week. I will dig more deep into architecture in environments from now :)
The next topic will be forests.
#4Thumbs-Challenge Week02: Desert |
01.05.2020 |
A Challenge I started for improving my environment painting skills. Second topic was all about deserts. Every day of the week I painted 4 thumbnails of different kind of rivers. After a few days, I was able to tell what is working and what is not.
For me the biggest problem in the beginning was the smoothness of sand deserts. Dunes and gradiations as well as colors of sand in light in shade was hard to paint. I got awesome feedback from other artists what I tried to apply as good as possible. I didn't know how to put sky and ground in a working relationship for example. After figuring out that the light of the sky also effects the ground and its highlight color I was able to connect them properly :)
The next topic will be forests.
#4Thumbs-Challenge Week01: River |
26.04.2020 |
A Challenge I started for improving my environment painting skills. First week was all about rivers. Every day of the week I painted 4 thumbnails of different kind of rivers. After a few days, I was able to tell what is working and what is not.
I began with copying concept art or photos of other artists. figuring out what elements are important for a river scene. For me it worked much better to create a bunch of different shape brushes for grass, plants and maybe some effects. Big problem in the beginning was to create proper depth by using the right values. Once that was done I struggled a lot with painting skies. Depending on the light source the whole landscape changes regarding highlights and reflections.
After one week, I improved a lot and I hope that it will be the case for the next topic as well: deserts.
Dragon-Dino-Bird Practice |
11.04.2020 |
I just came to know that Udemy provided a few free classes in times of corona. I picked the class" How to crete a dragon bust in digital art" and had a lot of fun with it. I got inspired by different dinosaurs, lizards and other prehistorical creatures. What do you think about this one? :)""
Hailfire Peaks - Boss Splash Art |
09.04.2020 |
For my new Remix on Youtube I created an anomated Splash Art of the boss Battle in the Hailfire Peaks Level in Banjo-Tooie. My goal was to create a professional Splash Art for the first time. Starting with a few Thumbnails then working on different color variations and finally polishing it until its done. I had quite a hard time rendering certain elements like the dragons head or the birds wings. Thanks to my friends and communities for inspiration and constructive critism :)

And another piece I created for my portfolio. Tried out a combination of different illustration styles. Also I worked on my storytelling skills :)
Brahma the guardian of the marshes |
04.04.2020 |
Third Character Design for my portfolio. This one I created during a class on skillshare. I realy learned some nice stuff there so far. Most important for this character were the feed and the hair. I wanted the feed to look brutal and heavy so that nothing can bring her to fall. the hair I wanted to be long, dark and straight. Hope you like the character :)
Øskor the Mammoth Slayer |
28.03.2020 |
Second Character Design I did recently for my portfolio. A heavy primal guy with a big spear. I got much better in rendering, I had huge problems with polishing the fur though. Still not sure how it actually works :)
Montopus Redesign |
24.03.2020 |
The last months I was working on my new portfolio. Besides a few brand new illustrations and concepts I also decided to overwork some of my older works. First one is the Montopus from Negaia. I realy liked the idea back then. The rendering needed a fresh polish though. :)
Album Cover - "Gesegnet" |
14.01.2020 |
This album cover I illustrated for CAVR and Tom Stone. The Titel "Gesegnet" means blessed. The idea was to get inspired by one of the many baroque baby angel paintings and paint the rappers heads into them. Turned out quite fun I think. :)
